Shumway Family Reunion

In June (forever ago) we had a Shumway reunion for the siblings.  We were in northern Zona.  All the kids were there. Great to be together, but a hard place for little kids. 

My dearest sweet Gina...

There is a tear in my heart today.  Our Gina has moved to Arizona to start a new adventure.  I have supported her decision and think it is a great idea for her.  BUT, good for her, not so good for me.  I will miss her more than I can say.  Gina is a wonderful woman - she has many gifts and talents that I greatly admire (more on a later post)

Good luck sweet girl.  You will be the best at all you do. 

Kellis Family Reunion

This week was the Kellis family reunion.  The "pre-reunion" started on Monday when the family from Arizona and California came to town.  We had family dinner here at the blue house Monday night.  Steak tacos/burritos and watermelon.  Tuesday was more of the same.  Mom, Quinn and family drove up to SLC to see Aunt Barbara.  Quenta went with her kids running errands etc.

We were very worried about Valerie being alone (Gary went to India) prepping for the food, etc.  Sabrina and Ericka drove up on Monday to help. 

Tuesday we spent most of the day making cookies...4 batches of chocolate chip cookies, a pan of peanut butter bars and a pan of 7 layer bars.  Tuesday evening we had hamburgers and hot dogs.  Both meals went very well, but it was SOOooo hot/humid.  Wednesday we left at about noon to go to Renae's for lunch, then on to the reunion.

The event was at "Campus Grove at Albion" an old college in Idaho.  It was a very cool location, but hard work cooking and activities.  It was cool weather though which made it great.

All the kids came, Ethan, Daron and families on Thursday evening then Khyl and fam on Friday evening.  The siblings decided to change partnerships so Dana and I are in charge of the reunion in 2 years.  Do we go back to Albion or do we branch out?

Welcome summer - you've been away too long!

It's My BIRTHDAY ! !

Good evening! Today is my birthday. I am 56 years old today. It has been a great day. Getting ready for my birthday I set a couple goals. One was to finish a 5K - The other was to start a blog - here we go!

I'm new at this, but I love the ability to share.

This morning it was pouring rain at 6am when we got up.. but I knew if I didn't go ahead with the race I would regret it. All the kids were there - Daron, Krystal and kids were at the finish, Ethan had school - Rachel ran, Khyl, Michelle and girls were behind me the whole time. It was not easy - my lungs are lousy. But the rain held off for the race and I DID IT ! ! I'm proud of that.

We came to the house for breakfast burritos. Gina, Hallie and I made our weekly Costco run, then Van and I went with Daron and Sabrina to Carrabbas and Iron Man 2. A neighbor brought flowers - lots of FB messages and Van gave me 4 pair of gloves and 4 pair of socks (2 Halloween). I believe it will be just fine being 56. Even if I do feel 26 on the inside.
